I attended a painting workshop last Thursday. The guest artist was David Shevlino who is featured in the May issue of “The Artist” magazine. I just love his work. He spent the first hour doing a demo, explaining the process as he was painting (I always love the demos – it’s like magic) while the students were madly taking notes. The rest of the day he spent time with each of us giving advice and patiently answering our questions. He has couple of videos (a still-life and the Sumo Wrestlers) out on the Internet that I watch over and over again. We painted ala-prima which means painting in one session – wet on wet. This is the painting I did, very loose and with big brushes.
